The Stony Brook Solar Racing Team performed extraordinarily well this year at the annual IEEE Solar Splash Competition in Dayton, Ohio. Among the awards were 1st place overall, 1st place for the solar slalom, 2nd place for qualifying, 2nd place for solar endurance, and 2nd for sprint. This is the result of an improved surface piercing drivetrain with two gear ratios and new motor controllers, which increased the speed and reliability of our boat. The team has put in endless hours throughout the year (including summer) into designing and building a boat from the ground up. There is no greater reward for our efforts than performing so well during the competition. More importantly, team members have grown to work well with each other and appreciate the skills they have gained from their time in this organization. We would like to again thank our sponsors and individuals who have helped us get this far. As a look back on all our hard work, here is an overview of the team.
