The main highlights of today was the team visited Composites Prototyping Center, our newest sponsor and partner. With the help of Professor Alkhader, we were introduced to CPC and this Friday, they gave our team a tour of the state of the art facility. They showed us some of their work, that is a Boeing 737 spoiler, Northrop Grumman fighter jet tail wing, and a sports car body made entirely out of carbon fiber(weighs less than 100 lb!!!). We intend to work with CPC to get the boat completed. We will first be visiting Nordon to finish up plug and mold and then work with CPC to finish the wet layup and carbon fiber process. We are very much excited about this new collaboration with CPC!
Today the mechanical team have been working hard on the drive train. The senior design group took apart the drive train and motors so that they could analyze the current shaft and prototyped a new shaft and are really excited about machining the new shaft.
Dom and his partner Angell from the electrical team completed the functioning prototype of the led screen that will placed on the boat . He worked the whole day to get the screen functioning at a higher frequency.
